I saw Andrew Jackson Jihad at Monster House a while back as well as well as like, Annabel and Letters to the Moon and some other band. I was blown away by the people, the attitude, and the music and ever since then I've been really wanting to get into the scene. Now I'm serious about it. Recent folk-punk bands I've been consumed by include: Johnny Hobo/Wingnut Dishwasher's Union (I actually wrote a seven page research paper on Pat The Bunny if anyone is interested, haha), Mountain Goats, Andrew Jackson Jihad, Defiance Ohio, Against Me! (especially acoustic), etc. but I'm also into a lot of indie and some hardcore and hip hop and whatever else. I have a lot of musician friends but I haven't really played much. I pride myself as a writer and my next goal is to learn some acoustic guitar so I can have a musical outlet.
My best friend Ben has the same yearning for the Columbus DIY scene as I do, so we'll scope out the events and hopefully make some
friends. If anyone has suggestions on what where or what we should go to, that would be awesome. Also, we're looking for a place for 3 to people live somewhere between OSU and downtown by next fall, and any suggestions on this would be extremely helpful.
Thanks for reading, hopefully you'll be seeing more of me.
